Delord Herwane has drawn pictures since he was a child. “It’s a kind of evasion for me — to be far from worries or when there are some family issues.”

Drawing has been one of my passions since childhood. There is no specific meaning behind my artwork. It’s a kind of evasion for me — to be far from worries, when I’m not okay or when there are some family issues.

When I was a child, I used to watch many cartoons, especially Dragon Ball Z, which is a famous Japanese cartoon known around the world. After watching a cartoon, I used to take a piece of paper to reproduce what I had seen on TV. My favourite main character was Songoku because he was so powerful.

Unfortunately, I haven’t taken any drawing lessons. I learned by myself by drawing regularly, but today I have cut back to be fully focused on my studies.

I don’t have any strategy in choosing a subject. I just release my imagination, and I draw simply. I do believe that the best art comes without any planning, by being creative.

Delord Herwane is from Gabon and is studying Management at Kepler in Kigali, Rwanda. He is especially interested in supply chain management. In the future, he plans to work in Rwanda to gain experience before moving back to Gabon “to contribute to its progress because in Gabon we are near Atlantic Ocean. That means we are open to the world while in Rwanda there’s no sea.”
