About the podcast
The Kids Are Alright is entirely student-led. From the format and structure to the logo design, young people from all over the world are leaving their mark on this one-of-a-kind podcast.
A different reporter leads every episode, and each season features a new group of student reporters.
This diversity makes The Kids Are Alright stand out and provides listeners with a unique experience.
We publish the episodes on News Decoder’s website as multimedia pieces, featuring photos, audio and text. Every episode is transcribed to make the podcast more accessible.

Get involved
We’re looking for reporters for the third season of The Kids Are Alright.
Reporters will conduct interviews, work with professional editors and develop podcasting skills such as script writing, recording audio and transcribing.
The format and structure of Season Three will resemble what we have done in the past, but this time we’re prioritizing storytelling with local reporting and in-person interviews.
Episodes for the new season will be 10 to 15 minutes in length and take listeners to the heart of the issue with narrative storytelling to frame the interviews.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday, April 2, 2021.
Timeline and commitment
All reporting will be completed by the end of May 2021. Reporters are expected to:
- Submit their audio files, transcriptions of their audio files and any other media to accompany their audio, such as photos from their reporting in the field, on time.
- Submit a story line to our editors to show how they will frame their interviews within an engaging and interesting story.
- Provide News-Decoder with a 50-word bio and high-quality headshot.
